The Largest Synthetic Molecule Created By Man
Some day in the future, the PG5 molecule could save your life.
PG5, you see, is a synthetic molecule created by Dieter Schlüter and other scientists at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich. With a amass of 200 million hydrogen atoms, it’s also the world’s largest synthetic molecule, and represents an important next step in the creation of tailor-made molecules that could (and will) deliver targeted medicines into the human body.
Previously, these large synthetic molecules would collapse in on themselves at a certain point in their construction, thereby limiting their size and capabilities. But not PG5.
Using what Klaus Mullen of the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany calls an “outrageous trick,” the PG5 creators did a number of things:
To synthesise PG5, Schlüter combined standard polymerisation reactions, which assemble small molecules into a long chain or backbone, with reactions from other areas of organic chemistry which attached groups of atoms to the backbone in a radial fashion. Schlüter says that because both techniques are standard, his team’s work should encourage other researchers to create synthetic macromolecules that they were previously “not brave enough” to attempt.
Indeed, this tree of life could have an incredible impact in the drug world. Specialized drugs, cancer-fighters perhaps, could be “docked” to PG5, or even “folded” within its behemoth network of bonded parts, and delivered to specific locations or tumors within the body
This Yacht is an actual ISLAND!
Now, this is one superyacht concept that demands attention and appreciation. The 155-meter “The Streets of Monaco” luxury superyacht by Yacht Island Design boasts a design that recreates a small section of the Principality of Monaco, known for the Formula One track and the Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht comes with its own fully functional go-kart circuit. The yacht is like a floating island, which exploits the benefits related with SWATH platforms. The art of producing a themed yacht is to seamlessly weave a story into every element of the design and is achieved via extensive consultation with the client during the initial phases of the design process.
The Streets of Monaco has been divided into four major external deck spaces. The upper deck features the main swimming pool with swim-in Jacuzzi/bar and the Casino Square, where you have a large glass-bottomed fountain. You can benefit from the sport activities in the yacht’s multi-purpose courtyard, which also doubles as a helipad. There are open sundecks and BBQ facilities aboard the yacht. Other communal areas are “The Oasis” and “The Grand Atrium.”
The Oasis: Inspired by the gardens outside the Monaco Casino, The Oasis is the main boarding point and features a central waterfall. On the lower level, there is the Spa with manicure and hair salon, sauna/steam rooms, a relaxation lounge with a spa pool and a bar, and a gym and café bar with underwater views.
The Grand Atrium: It connects the upper and lower living areas of the yacht. On the lower atrium are the seven guest suites, library, communal office, communal balcony and cinema. The upper atrium takes you to the entertainment area and the owner’s suite.
With top speed of 15 knots, The Streets of Monaco accommodates 16 guests and 70 crew in the utmost comfort. The other yacht by Yacht Island Design will be a smaller 85-meter yacht, which will be based around a Pacific Island theme.

Lady Gaga & Polaroid Join Forces To Make Crazy Tv Screen Shades That Records VIDEO!
Lady Gaga’s weirdo Polaroid glasses are about to turn our faces into Facebook feeds and mood rings.
The glasses have two little screens in them. The weird thing is that they face outward. You can imagine the scene as Polaroid’s suit brigade and accountants took the pitch from Gaga, stammering and wondering what they got themselves into and if they’d willingly let her take the company down with her. It makes no sense on first thought. OR DOES IT.
at people look into each other’s eyes when they talk to each other. And that eyes say a lot, powerfully and subtly, on their own. Winking, rolling, smizing, crying, squinting, for starters. Gaga’s glasses take direct advantage of the way we lock gazes when we converse in person, but they kind of throw a nuke down on the subtly of eye based body language. It’s more like they replace it, sunglasses betraying nothing, while user-selected, pixel precise messaging comes through the screens. Think of it as flickr or a facebook photo album for your face. Loaded with hamburgers if someone’s hungry, hearts if they’re in love, videos of thunderclouds rolling slowly in if someone is pissed off. The screens could output colors to match clothing or moods. Anything is possible.
