Worlds Largest Swimming Pool

“that your pool dude? pahaha, THIS is a pool! is what you’d probably say if you had this in your back yard.

“This pool is located at the San Alfonso del Mar in Algarrobo, Chile. It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, has a 115 ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water. It costs around $2 billion to build and another $4 million/year for maintenance.

Canon’s 4K Concept Camera

You’re looking at Canon’s new 4k “Multipurpose” concept, a wondrous amalgamation of still and video cameras pumping 60 frames per second at 4k resolution out of an 8 megapixel 2/3-inch CMOS sensor. Yep, we said 4k video, approximately quadruple the resolution of 1080p. We had a chance to go hands-on with the prototype at Canon Expo 2010, and believe us when we tell you that it’s really, really sharp, both in terms of hardware and the images it produces. The hardware is essentially a giant SLR body packing a fixed video-style lens complete with zoom and focus controls and a high-def flip-out LCD viewfinder (we’re told it’s the same LCD found in Canon’s new XF-300 and XF-305 video cameras).

We were told by a Canon rep that, unlike competing camera-maker RED’s offerings, the Multipurpose concept is not specifically designed for digital cinema. Instead, it’s intended to offer “multipurpose image capture,” which seems to imply something like the continuous photography promised by Canon’s other futuristic prototype. And although we’re told that the 4k Multipurpose camera will never come to market, it certainly sends a bold message to an industry content with 1080p that higher resolutions like 4k are coming down the pipe and aren’t just the realm of boundary-pushing cinema nerds.

The eTape

Cassettes PMP Are So Reto And Cool!

Debating with a colleague of mine on what inspires designers, we concluded that since 90 to 95 % of designs (in any field) have already been created, inspiration comes from the ones that already exist. Like I know for a fact that many of you readers come to Yanko Design to be inspired, and during those Random Searches, the Cassette Tape inspired an idea thus the eTape born! Whatever the reason behind it, I love the refinements and in-sync designing. It’s the era of touchscreen and detailing, both of which are reflected in the product. So basically this goes a notch up to being retro (which is in demand now-a-days) looking yet modern in functionality.

The NEW iPod Touch

iPod touch…boy is it small. As you would expect, the functionality of the device is identical to the iPhone 4, as well as the functions of the front and back cameras. In essence, it’s a much thinner iPhone 4, with no cell radio, of course. The design is relatively in keeping with previous touches, so no major surprises there, but the inclusion of that A4 chip, higher resolution screen, and front and back cameras makes it a far more versatile device. I makes the iphone 4 look kinda…fat lol

The NEW iPod Nano

Apple has just revealed its 6th generation iPod nano, which has been outfitted with just about the boldest redesign the portable media player has experienced yet. Gone is the clickwheel, to be replaced with a touchscreen interface and a shuffle-esque square form factor. It’s now 46 percent smaller and 42 percent lighter. Hard volume buttons on the side and a clip on the back provide the minimal hardware accouterments to that multitouch touchscreen, while the inside provides enough juice for 24 hours of audio playback. Seven total color variants will be up for grabs, including a Product RED option, with prices set at $149 for 8GB of storage or $179 for 16GB and pre-orders being taken today.
