Back Like I never Left

jovel_final-20-copyFirst I was gonna wait till the new year before re-starting my blog. You know, new year new start and all that, but lets be honest, most of that new years resolution crap barely makes it till the end of the month, so i thought id have a better chance of sticking to it by kicking it off riiiiight now. So yeah, ze blogiddy has returned! As well as the usual gadgetry, anime, music, movies and general nerdy stuff that I used to blog, we’ve also grown the hell up andhave some proper ish to add!

Obviously being a musician, I posted about the key events and releases I put out here and there, as that was the initial purpose of the blog! But mixed with all the cool stuff I found it all got a bit fuzzy and random to say the least. Well not any more! My musics really starting to pick up (more on that later) and Ive had literally tonnes of people asking for recipes for some of the meals I whip up, so I decided to make the three solid corner stones of music, cooking & cool/nerdy shit more organised and keep rotating like a rotisserie chicken in this biatch.

If you’re new to the blog, this is doesn’t reeeally apply to you, but here, have a big warm welcome, first ones free. To my regular visitors and subscribers, sorry for the long ting, but I’m back, for good, I promise and a massive thank you for being patent with me. Alright, enough soppy shit, lets get back to it!

Its Official! – I’m Playing Glastonbury this Year!

Its Official! – I’m Playing Glastonbury this Year!

I know Ive been SUPER tight lipped about my new material as ‘Jovel’, even to the point where I havent publicly announced any shows and instead done a few ‘if you’re there then you’re there’ kind of apperances, but thats all coming to an end very very soon.

I cant go into to much detail (some of it I still dont know myself, But I have been confirmed to play Glastonbury this year! Still not sure what day or stage, but I do know that George Ezra and a few others are on the same stage as me!

Im really looking forward to present this new sound to you all, and I cant wait to hear what you all think, Its quite a massive journey from anything Ive even thought of doing before!

10635750_1486343074941683_8975830631198734810_nSo last wednesday I had my third ‘tester’ show and FINALLY it went the way I wanted to in my mind. My new live show is still in its early stages, but all the new elements are finally working together a lot more seamlessly and the response from the audience was AMAZING.

A massive thank you to everyone that came to support the event (especially the two lads that drove all the way from cornwall just to see me play) to chris for having me, and a massive thank you to everyone that came up to me afterwards to say they enjoyed the show, really gave my confidence a boost.

Cannot WAIT for my next set of shows now. I’ll keep you posted!

“Bring Me Down” By The Skints FT Jovel (Me) Now Up On MTV IGGY!

The Skints are “east London reggae” through and through. For the last ten years, Marcia Richards, Joshua Waters Rudge, Jamie Kyriakides, and Jonathan Doyle have toured Europe extensively with their eclectic fusion of Jamaican music styles, pop hooks, hip-hop, and heavy bass. They dropped a couple of albums and EPs along the way, too, yet you still might not have a clue.

On March 31, the British band are hoping to top-up their notoriety with the release of their new three-track EP, Short Change. The project’s standout, “Break Me Down,” which we’re premiering here at MTV IGGY, nods heavily towards reggae’s golden era of the late ’60s/early ’70s. However, things are kept fresh with the help of a special guest verse from guitar-loving grime bar specialist, Jovel (Random Impulse). One for the upcoming summer days, stream “Break Me Down” in full down below.” – Words by Joseph JP Patterson
