Nine Year Old Builds Wind Powered Skateboard

Ahh its a good day, my super awesome nerd genius army (S.A.N.G.A) is just getting stronger and stronger by the day, gotta love it!

Who says invention is a legacy of the matured? We’ll all have to change our thoughts now; Chris Neal has forced us to do so with his charismatic fan-powered skateboard. The Bonsall, California based nine-year-old did the skateboard for his Bonsall Elementary School project, from where the invention was asked to be featured at the Ellen DeGeneres Show. In his creation presented at the show, Chris has got a skateboard fitted with a motorcycle battery powered fan to push a skateboard 3 to 5 mph with a rider on it. Great beginning for a kid who visions to grow up to be an inventor some day. One more image after the jump.

Pcubee – The 5 Screen 360° Tv

this concept is just plain awesome. the main fault with 3d technology comming out recently is the need to have to wear a pulky pair of glasses all the time. well no more!
Created by an engineering team at the University of British Columbia’s Human Communications Technology Lab, the pCubee is a handheld display comprised of 5 flat-panel LCD screens. The cube automatically adjusts to movements and allows users to interact with objects inside a virtual 3D world rendered inside the cube. Check out the video below to see how truly impressive the effect can be:

Scientists Set To Make Invisibility Cloak Like Harry Potter!

Invisibility cloak project is back on! It’s from a different team of scientists that were using silver-plated nanoparticles in water though, with these latest Harry Potter enthusiasts using photonic metamaterials to change light rays.

The idea is to cloak an object and disguise it with the use of light rays, like a “carpet mirror”, as described in the Science publication by Tolga Ergin, a scientist from the German Karlsruhe Institute of Technology working on the project.

Using polymer crystals with minuscule rods, Ergin found success with his “invisible cloak,” making it invisible to light wavelengths:

“By changing the thickness of the rods, you can change the ratio of air to polymer.
Since the refractive index of air is about one and the refractive index of the polymer is about 1.52, in principle, we can get any refractive index between those two numbers”
Anyone looking at the object assumes the area is flat, and that there’s nothing hidden there—and it could theoretically hide any object, even a house. There are obviously limitations involved with the science, not least the length of time it takes to create the 3D cloaking structure. [BBC]

First Look: The New Blackberry Pearl 9100

Another picture of the recently sighted BlackBerry Pearl 9100 has surfaced, and this time, it’s accompanied by some technical specifications. From the picture, it’s obvious that the phone will offer a SureType QWERTY keyboard, which squeezes two letters onto a single key. Aside from that, the Pearl 9100 should include a 3-megapixel camera with a LED flash, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPRS. Of course, none of these are official specifications, so there’s still a possibility that it might change.
