Me & Lorde!

ok so Lorde and some guy went in the studio, and the guy remade the track royals by himself in a couple of hours, played the guitar in the melody of her vocals, sung the harmonies and then rapped over it. That ‘guy’ was me, and lorde wasnt really there or knew anything about it, but apart from that small detail it definitely happened: Take a look for yourself >

My Brand New Studio “Konoha!”

For anyone that doesn’t know, I’ve had my own little studio for the best part of 8 years now, and at its peak it looked something like this:

Not too shabby, but nothing to write home about.

WELL THAT HAS ALL CHANGED.

For those that may not know, I’m a MASSIVE anime fan (the studio itself is named after a village in one of my fave anime shows.) so it’s only right I had that represented up in here!
these are custom vectors done  my the amazing ishhi.
The girl on the left is Yozora from ‘Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai,’ on the right is Sena from the same series and in the centre is Jubei from ‘Hyakka ryoran Samurai Girls’

Decor
Red black and white baby! What else!
Having a mum that’s been a trained painter and decorator for the last 20 years is pretty handy as you can see. I knocked out some walls but had to keep the two support poles as they hold up the entire house!
The floor tiles are granite. Yup that’s right, pulsey went all posh for a minute haha!

I think anyone sitting in this just looks like they have to be stroking a fluffy cat whilst laughing hysterically about world domination

Zen garden
A guys gotta breathe right? I installed halogen bulbs since they emit the closest radiation to that ofthe sun so my plants shouldn’t die (for a while anyway lol)
got some zamioculas in the back, then a pair of bamboo plants, and right at the front my very own bonsai tree which is being protected by a pair of gensing plants either side!

This badboys is MAXED OUT, with 2.5Ghz intel core i7 a processor, 8Gb of ram, a 750Gb hard drive and even High res glossy the display! I keep it docked in an Arc so it hardly gets open unless I’m out and about and need to go portable

Acoustics
Acoustic tiles on the wall are a must, but they. Need to go in specific places to catch the sound bouncing all over the room. Lucky for me my booking agent Jon Ollier used to do sound  engineering and hes coming down today to tell me what’s what. I also need rugs on the floor, tiles are super reflective with sound!

I hate it. Lucky for me though this is only a temporary chair as my real chair takes a painful 40 days to be manufactured and delivered.

The Sunday Refix: Random Impulse X Example ‘See The Sea’

WEEK 10..

Again i had to pull an all nighter for this this one, a solid 27 hours to be exact. Ive been preparing my ep which is going to go hand in hand with the refix download as well as well as getting a SUPER AWESOME top secret refix organized so it was the only way! but anyway, on with the refix…

this week its my my fave track on boy Example’s MASSIVE track ‘see the sea!’ first time Ive made something even remotely reggae ‘ish’ in my life (I wont lie, I had to do some guitar chord research online!) but aside from that, there was nothing too out of the impulse ordinary instrumentally.

Where it gets cool however is my play of the title!

my freestyle basically explains the mentality of MANY artists that have a bit of a buzz. A lot of new artists that have only begun to gain recognition always seem to act as if they’re the big guy that runs the show, but I explain that they are only the big shark when in the small fish bowl that is the underground scene. My interpretation of “seeing the sea” is that although im in a fish bowl, I am aware how far I still have to go: there’s a whole sea to conquer, i “see the sea” and am not satisfied by being a mere bigger fish in a small pool.

…im rambling arn’t i? lol apologies, i must sleep.

the Guitar amp Thats A PC!

Is the OPC Computer Amplifier a guitar amp with a bonus computer or a computer with a bonus guitar amp? The look suggests the former. The 500GB HDD, GeForce 9300 graphics card, and Windows 7 OS suggest the latter.

4GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, Intel chips, Windows 7 x64 home premium, 8 x USB2.0 ports, is Wi-Fi enabled and has an integrated GeForce 9300 graphics card with an optional dedicated ATI 5670 512MB card for those who may want to play a few games while they put their guitars down.

The OPC will include software that models a number of vintage amps and features a unique cooling system that uses the air blown out of the speaker. The company also claims that it’s the first computer to have a built-in universal input jack for recording from instruments, microphones, and other digital sources like MP3 players.

OK, so it might not be the most obvious pairing, but for a music-making geek with an itty-bitty apartment, it’s certainly one way to save space. Though the price hasn’t yet been announced, the OPC will be available in June

My Cigarette Amp

I almost forgot to blog this! My pride and joy! America has this company that makes these mini guitar amps made from cigarette boxes, but being an American company, they only use american brands like parliament (which is pretty crappy)

that being said, i dug out my glue gun and soldering kit to make my very own cigarette box amp with the uk’s very own mayfair box! it only needs a 9v battery (and an electric guitar lol) and your ready t rock out anywhere. I will not pretend that I’m not COMPLETELY chuffed at myself fro making this!

The Plectrums of Destiny!

If you’ve ever seen me about, there’s a 99.9% chance I would have been wearing this around my neck, making it proudly swing from side to side as if it were one of baby’s 1.5 million dollar chains. probably the most obvious reason for plectrums around my neck is for when I’m at my show about to play a song with guitar, i can just snap one off rather than spend a good five minutes on pocket fumbling, but in actuality, there’s a much deeper (and nonsensical) reason. it is because they are no ordinary plectrums!! NO! they are the picks of DESTINY!!

Okay this is about to get stupid, but its honestly how I feel about it lol. Im not sure when it came about, or which friend I was with (sorry if your reading this!) but the very first day I attached the six multicoloured plectrums onto a vip card holder that I nicked from a qotsa gig, my friend exclaimed “AHH! THE PICKS OF DESTINY!” I asked him what the hell he was on about to which he stated “If you keep those exact picks on your neck, you’ll make it in this music world, but loose a single one, and it’ll all end that very year. Just like you probably would have, I said something along the lines of “errr, ok?” But then about a month later, the ONE time didnt wear it when I went to band practice, I broke 5 OUT OF 6 strings in 5 minutes!!! Im a STRONG believer of making your own fate and I’m not very superstitious at all, but anyone that knows anything about guitars know how near impossible it is to break, since that day I kinda latched on to my friends stupid ‘curse’ theory and yeah, there you have it; The Plectrums Of Destiny!
