A 13 Year Old Boy Made A NUCLEAR REACTOR & Is the youngest Alive To Achieve Nuclear Fusion.

One thing you may not know about me is that Im a very big science geek, studied it in my uni days so dont be too surprised if the odd physics post rolls up on my blog lol

Thirteen-year-old Jamie Edwards from Preston, UK has just became the world’s youngest to achieve nuclear fusion. That’s right, he used all of his Christmas money ($3400) to buy himself a Geiger counter and then set out on building his own nuclear reactor on school premises, with permission of course, and eventually succeeded in smashing two hydrogen atoms to together, making helium through nuclear fusion. Continue reading for a video and more information.

Inhabitat reports, “Edwards has been keeping a blog to document his progress and his school school helped him get hold of a vacuum chamber, a canister of deuterium (heavy hydrogen) and other components necessary for the experiment. Other teens interested in nuclear energy may find their inspiration on Jamie’s blog, just as he had by hearing about Taylor Wilson’s success.”
