For some reason Ive always had this stigma looming over me suggesting that musically I want it all to come from me and me alone; the music, lyrics, production, the whole shebang. The reality however is that I’m someone that likes to get things done really quickly, so if I’m working on a project, I’m on in day and night, 24/7. In the past I would reach out to either a producer or writer and they’d be down to work, but just getting on the same page just seems to take SOOOOO long I end up finishing the whole thing before they even get stuck in! Now over the year I’ve been working on a MASSIVE three part project, the first part being my void ep, and riiiight when I’m at the last hurdle something amazing happened. yes, Ive actually been collaborating, the curse is broken.
Now while this isn’t the first collab I’ve done for this project, its the first I remembered to document because I’m one of those silly people that like to live life and experience sights with my own eyes instead of behind a screen. On wednesday I went to the studio of Newton Faulkner, the platinum selling- super talented singer songwriter and his equally talented brother Toby Faulkner who’s also a super songwriter.
Their studio is a crazy as they are and we made a big start on two songs in only a few hours which awesome. Newtons best known for being a guitarist but damn, the man can play almost everything, and he’s got some of the weirdest instruments I’ve ever seen, including this weird synth in a box thingy with wooden buttons. you can see a vid of him playing it over on my instagram so check that out (the insta link is in my banner)
So yeah, not a bad little sesh! i’ll be sure to do better and remember to document what I do with my days as it is pretty fun, thats probably what makes it so difficult in the first place now that I think about it!
