Apples Selling a Book For $300 lol

designed-by-apple-in-california-1-400x536So its come to this. The makers of the mac book have now made an…er..mac book, but literally this time.

On Tuesday, Apple released something unique: not a phone or a laptop or wireless earbuds, but a coffee table book. Designed by Apple in California features exquisite photographs of iconic Apple products, beginning with the iMac in 1998 and culminating with the Apple Pencil. In true Apple fashion the book comes in two sizes: a 10.20 x 12.75-inch copy for $199 and a 13 x 16.25-inch copy for $299.

Yup, you heard right $300, flipping, dollars for a book of photos. Now this is a bit unfair as I’m all for artistic photography books being sold for prices like this, but seeing as its coming from a massive tech corporation, I cant help but see this as no more than a glorified catalogue.

jbareham_161117_1286_pages_01-0

Having said all that though, theres no denying the quality of this book:

“Like all Apple products, the attention to detail is meticulous: the tightly bound pages are edged in silver; the paper is Apple-specific Heaven 42 Scheufelen from Germany — as is the Bamberger Kaliko linen with bespoke dye. The printing is simply astonishing: custom low ghost Epple inks and 8 CMYK color separations (4 is the norm) with 280 line screen printing give the photographs deep, rich blacks and colors so bright as to make a grown design lover weep. As for the photographs themselves, they are of course impeccable. All were shot by Andrew Zuckerman in a typical “Appley” minimalist style, bathing Apple’s older hardware in the modern “press shot” aesthetic.”

(-written by the verge the verge)

what do you guys think?

Studio Sesh With The Faulkners

img_9815For some reason Ive always had this stigma looming over me suggesting that musically I want it all to come from me and me alone; the music, lyrics, production, the whole shebang. The reality however is that I’m someone that likes to get things done really quickly, so if I’m working on a project, I’m on in day and night, 24/7. In the past I would reach out to either a producer or writer and they’d be down to work, but just getting on the same page just seems to take SOOOOO long I end up finishing the whole thing before they even get stuck in! Now over the year I’ve been working on a MASSIVE three part project, the first part being my void ep, and riiiight when I’m at the last hurdle something amazing happened. yes, Ive actually been collaborating, the curse is broken.

img_9813

Now while this isn’t the first collab I’ve done for this project, its the first I remembered to document because I’m one of those silly people that like to live life and experience sights with my own eyes instead of behind a screen. On wednesday I went to the studio of Newton Faulkner, the platinum selling- super talented singer songwriter and his equally talented brother Toby Faulkner who’s also a super songwriter.

img_9811

Their studio is a crazy as they are and we made a big start on two songs in only a few hours which awesome. Newtons best known for being a guitarist but damn, the man can play almost everything, and he’s got some of the weirdest instruments I’ve ever seen, including this weird synth in a box thingy with wooden buttons. you can see a vid of him playing it over on my instagram so check that out (the insta link is in my banner)

So yeah, not a bad little sesh! i’ll be sure to do better and remember to document what I do with my days as it is pretty fun, thats probably what makes it so difficult in the first place now that I think about it!

Ghost In The Shell – Official Trailer

There’s been little 5 second teaser trailers dropping for the last few months about this but finally, FINALLY we get a full length trailer of the new ghost in the shell movie, and yes, it looks SIIICK.

For those that dont know, this is a live action adaptation of an amazing anime film created by  Masamune Shirow. Its one of the all time classic animes in my opinion so if you havent seen it, I strongly suggest you check it out too.

The Insect Made From Ultimate Despair

maxresdefault-1For some ungodly reason theres a a spawn of hell on earth that pretends to be a an insect and goes by the name of a tarantula hawk. Yep, thats right, a TARANTULA HAWK. The name pretty much says it all. As if preying on giant spiders wasn’t enough, it also holds the title of have the second most painful sting recorded. If you’re interested in what that looks like, please enjoy the video below of an idiot willingly getting stung by one and rolling in agony. You’re welcome.

The Most expensive Crisps In The World

swedish-brewery-makes-the-world-s-most-expensive-potato-chips-5pack-for-2Guess what flavour the most expensive crisps in the world are? check it out

So Swedish brewery St:Erik is selling this five-pack of chips for around $56. Theres is no reasoning as to why they’re worth that, and thats because they aren’t. Looking at the image it seems the 5 flavours are couch fluff, toenail clippings, a finger, a business card, and a longer- executive business card.

jokes aside though heres the actual science bit:

These special ingredients are Matsutake mushroom from pine forests in the northern region of Sweden, Truffle seaweed from the waters around the Faroe Islands, Crown Dill that was hand-picked on the Bjäre Peninsula in southern Sweden, Leksand Onion that grows just outside the small Swedish town Leksand and India Pale Ale Wort which is the kind normally used to brew St:Erik’s India Pale Ale

Even being a millionaire wouldn’t justify buying this man.. though having said that, if somebody offered me a ‘pack’ I wouldn’t say no.

Badly Written Recipes: Thai Red Curry, Jasmine sticky Rice & A Char Siu Skewer

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Alright a promise is a promise. You wanted recipes and don’t have em, BUT, I do make some pretty tasty food every now and again and although i might not have every tiny measurement (i don’t really measure ingredients) here my thought process through cooking.

My wifes vegan, so I have a natural reflex to keep vegan alternative ingredients in mind and

I’ve listed them here also so you’re all good!

PLEASE read the WHOLE thing first, as I might randomly start talking about adding an ingredient waaay later and you’ll be like ‘what the hell?’

theres bound to be spelling mistakes too, so sorry about that.

Aight so here we go, thai red curry with a skewer of char siu chicken because I’m greedy like that.

I like to think that every country has their ‘Star player’ ingredients, thai food would be: garlic, lime, lemongrass, ginger, chilli, basil & coriander (or cilantro for you u.s folk). you can literally throw these ingredients on anything anything and it’d give it a thai feel.

If you’re not that kitchen savvy, I strongly suggest you just buy thai red curry paste from the shop, it tastes pretty damn good, and when you throw that with coconut milk you’re good to go. But if you wanna get all fancy for no reason like i did, you’re gonna need:

1 shallot chopped

1 stalk fresh lemongrass, minced,

1-2 red chilies,

4 cloves garlic

1 thumb-size piece of ginger, sliced

2 Tbsp of tomato puree

1 tsp. ground cumin

3/4 tsp. ground coriander

1/4 tsp. ground white pepper

2 Tbsp. fish sauce, or if you’re vegan 2 Tbsp. soy sauce, plus salt to taste

1 tsp. shrimp paste, or for the vegans 1 Tbsp of Thai golden mountain sauce

1 tsp. sugar

1+1/2 to 2 Tbsp. chili powder

depending on how spicy you want it

3 Tbsp. thick coconut milk, or just enough to keep the blades turning (you’re gonna need more for the curry anyway)

2 Tbsp. fresh-squeezed lime juice

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

once you have all that, bung it in the blender and button smash the crap out of it until it forms a solid paste. It wont be super super red, but it will while cooking the curry

so yeah, ALL that, or just get a pack of red thai curry sauce lol.

Next you’ll need some chopped chicken breast, or for the veggie vegan crew, some tofu or/and  broccoli, sweet potato (half boiled, chick peas, or anything else that you’re feeling)

For the rice I strongly suggest sticky jasmine rice, as thats the equivalent of pure crack in the rice world, but any rice is all good. I’m not gonna go into cooking the damn rice, just have it ready near the end of the curry. you can do it, i believe in you.

get your chicken (or veg), and add fresh crushed garlic, garlic powder,  salt, pepper, ground basil, a  lil bit of ginger powder, and half a freshly squeezed lime, mix that about and leave it for about 5 mins (the longer you leave it the better)

get a frying pan on, throw some oil in, (olive preferably) and then add the chicken. infrequently stir it, like every 2 mins, just to ensure its cooking evenly till it looks golden brown, probably around the 10 min mark. the chicken probably aint cooked fully yet so don’t take a bite and die yeah?

add the red curry paste and let that bad boy sizzle, in the pan. Awaken your inner ninja and start randomly stirring it all about until the paste covers the chicken. next add that remaining coconut milk so you’ve got a real nice curry sauce vibing in your pan.

after 10 mins add some freshly chopped basil, plate it up with the rice and garnish with that awesome rice. BOOM game done.

Fat Boy EXTRA

The chicken char siu skewer was totally unnecessary and i was absolutely STUFFED without it, but if you wanna make it as a starter or something, simply season chopped chicken breast, or tofu (vegan alert) with:

2 tbsp dark soy sauce

2 tbsp light soy sauce

2 tbsp oyster sauce (if your vegan or veggie just use Worcestershire sauuuuce)

2 tbsp rice wine vinegar

3 tbsp honey

2 tbsp brown sugar

4 tbsp hoisin sauce

1/2 tsp Chinese five spice

1/2 tbsp red food colouring

mix all that in and leave it for an hour at LEAST but over night will be better, then throw some sticky char siu in the mix. you don’t have to, but I’m a bit over the top like that.

grab your skewer, and pierce the chicken pieces onto the skewer. if you’re using tofu, make sure you go SLOOOWLY man, you don’t want it breaking off and all that. throw that in an oven on a wire rack on 180 degrees for about… er i dunno, 20 mins? 25 maybe? and there you bloody have it!

lemmie know what think in the comments, and if you tried it out! Till next time…
